About the Owner

Woodage… and How I got Here

Cooking and sharing food is a global way of showing care and affection…and in all instances, to bring this expression to life, it starts with the humble cutting board.

With an established career of almost 20 years in interior renovation and building houses, I have come to develop a love for hardwood and the exquisite quality and design it brings to a finished product. The durability, longevity, and the elegance of the natural grain patterns and colours of hardwood, not only enhances the warmth of a space, but also elevates each crafted piece into a work of art. Interestingly, I used to also be a Chef, where I spent many years delivering memorable dining experiences and witnessing many cherished moments created through the art of sharing food.
Woodage is an amalgamation of my past and current experience, and the values I have come to hold strongly in my everyday life.

Cooking and sharing food is a global way of showing care and affection…and in all instances, to bring this expression to life, it starts with the humble cutting board.

About Our Wood

We use only high-quality hardwoods.

While there are many different types of wood in the world, it can broadly categorised into either ‘softwoods’ or ‘hardwoods’. 

 

Hardwood cutting boards are preferred over softwood cutting boards for not only quality but also its aesthetic appeal. Softwood can easily be damaged by knives and is prone to warping and splitting, which makes hardwood the ideal choice and safer option to use in your kitchen.
We currently use Blackwood (Acacia) for our cutting boards. It has a rich, reddish-brown appearance with darker streaks, which provides a warm and inviting appearance. It also has a fine and even texture, often displaying a wavy or interlocked grain pattern.
